Community Foundation Grants Integral in Charity’s Vitamin A Supplementation Program

Santa Barbara, CA – Vitamin Angels, a global aid charity that provides nutritional support to women and children in need, has been able to reach 4,000,000 children thanks to grants from The S.L. Gimbel Foundation Fund of The Community Foundation ® to support its programs providing vitamin A to at-risk populations globally.  In 2018, Vitamin Angels received its 4th grant from The Community Foundation in support of the organizations efforts to offset the effects of malnutrition. The monetary awards have provided much needed support to the organization as it continues to scale-up its programs around the world.

“We’re thrilled to receive the support of The Community Foundation,” said Howard Schiffer, President and Founder of Vitamin Angels. “These consecutive grants have allowed us to reach increased numbers of children with lifesaving vitamin A across the world.”

The Community Foundation seeks to support nonprofits and programs that enrich the lives of residents in Riverside County, California and regions within the Southern California area. The S.L. Gimbel Foundation Fund has provided operational grants to Vitamin Angels since 2012.

“This grant represents our donor’s wishes to help women and children in need through Vitamin Angels,” noted Celia Cudiamat, Senior VP of Grants and Programs of The Community Foundation. “Through their giving, we continue to fund such programs that are important to them at home and abroad.”

Vitamin Angels is grateful to The Community Foundation and its S.L. Gimbel Foundation for the year-over-year support. The organization currently operates in 74 countries across a field partner network of more than 1,200 organizations. In addition to its vitamin A and deworming programs for preschool-aged children, the charity announced earlier this year that it would be expanding the reach of its prenatal multivitamin program, with a goal set to reach 50 million women annually by 2030.
