Morning Star: Diem Labs Donates $20,000 Including 25 Cents From All Products to Vitamin Angels

ANN ARBOR, Mich., April 08, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Diem Labs has committed $20,000 to Vitamin Angels this year and in honor of the charity’s 25th anniversary will include as part of that donation 25 cents for each product sale. Vitamin Angels is a public health organization that reached more than 70 million mothers and children in multiple countries last year with nutritional support. Diem Labs is a dietary supplement and medical food company launched in 2016 to serve healthcare professionals and consumers with scientifically validated solutions for a select range of underserved and emerging health concerns. Formed by an international partnership of scientists, nutraceutical ingredient producers and veterans of the natural products industry, Diem Labs supplies safe and effective nutraceuticals produced to the highest quality standards and backed by rigorous scientific evidence including: Umbrellux DAO, the original diamine oxidase (DAO) supplement brand in the United States used by those suffering from histamine intolerance caused by a DAO deficiency; a citicoline medical food called Cerenx for cerebral ischemia and mild cognitive impairment; Adiposano, a medical food for overweight or obese individuals with metabolic osteoarthritis; and Hepaxa, a medical food product for the dietary management of steatosis in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

“Vitamin Angels really caught our company’s attention because of their international focus of using nutrition to help improve the lives of families worldwide,” said Cai Berg, CEO of Diem Labs who has more than 25 years experience with ingredients marketing in pharmaceutical and supplement industries. “As a company that is also focused on transforming healthcare through nutritional supplementation, we want to support the charitable side of the natural products industry. The work Vitamin Angels is doing worldwide is an impressive model to show how critical nutrients are to basic health and survival.”

Vitamin Angels launched its flagship vitamin A supplementation program in 2007, and has since scaled up vitamin A distribution globally, expanding its reach from nearly 2 million children in 2008 to more than 60 million in 2018. By 2010, Vitamin Angels began large-scale deployment of albendazole, a deworming tablet, to preschool-aged children as a complement to its vitamin A program. In 2018, the organization announced plans to dramatically expand distribution of prenatal multivitamins to improve birth outcomes worldwide.

“Our focus at Vitamin Angels is to help at-risk populations in need, and specifically pregnant women, new mothers and children 5 years of age and younger gain access to lifesaving and life changing vitamins and minerals,” said Howard Schiffer, who founded Vitamin Angels in 1994, drawing upon his experience as a midwife and career in the natural product industry. “With the generous support of Diem Labs we will be able to improve health on a global scale.”
