SANTA BARBARA, CA, April 29, 2019 – During the month of May, The Vitamin Shoppe®, an omni channel specialty retailer of nutritional products, will host a nationwide campaign across 770 stores in the United States to raise funds on behalf of Vitamin Angels, its long-time charity partner. Vitamin Angels is a global public health organization working to end malnutrition worldwide by distributing vitamins and minerals to at-risk mothers and children in the U.S. and around the world. The Vitamin Shoppe® began its partnership with Vitamin Angels in 2007, and has since improved the lives of over 48 million mothers and children. This month’s campaign goal is to raise over $500,000 and reach another 2 million recipients.
“Our partnership with The Vitamin Shoppe® and their Health Enthusiasts® has been instrumental in our efforts to end global malnutrition,” said Howard Schiffer, President & Founder of Vitamin Angels. “Whether they are with us in the field or within their stores, The Vitamin Shoppe® embodies a strong commitment to improving women’s health.”
The Vitamin Shoppe® May campaign will span across in-store and digital channels to maximize customer awareness and engagement. In-store, customers will have the opportunity to make a donation to Vitamin Angels at checkout. For donations of $5 or greater, customers will receive a traditional Guatemala bracelet hand-made made by local mothers in the area, many of whom are previous recipients of Vitamin Angels.
As a new component of the annual campaign, The Vitamin Shoppe® will host an Instagram fundraising campaign over Mother’s Day weekend (May 11-12) asking followers to post a photo of a mom who inspires them using the hashtag #MomsRule. For each hashtag posted over the campaign weekend, The Vitamin Shoppe® will donate $5 to Vitamin Angels up to $15,000.
“We look forward to this campaign every year, as it is a wonderful way to get our Health Enthusiasts® and customers engaged in a mission we truly care about as an organization,” said Sharon Leite, CEO of The Vitamin Shoppe®. “We are proud to serve millions of women and children around the world through our partnership with Vitamin Angels.”
On May 20, The Vitamin Shoppe® and Nature’s Way will also be co-hosting the Annual Charity Golf Outing benefiting Vitamin Angels at Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg, New Jersey. This event will bring together natural products brands with leading industry manufacturers and suppliers to network, golf and contribute to the Vitamin Angels mission.
