PRESS RELEASE

Vitamin Angels to Meet the Community it Serves at Daytona 500

Santa Barbara, CA – Vitamin Angels, a 501(c)(3) charity that provides vitamins and minerals to mothers and children in need of nutritional support in the US and around the world, will be spreading the word about their cause at the Daytona 500 in Daytona, Florida during the upcoming race weekend Friday, February 19 through Sunday, February 21.  The charity will run ads promoting their work to fans attending the event. A ground team will be on site to speak with race goers about the charity’s work.

“Vitamin Angels works with a great group of non-profit organizations throughout Florida who are committed to helping low-income mothers and their children gain access to multivitamins,” said Ann Micka, Domestic Program Manager for Vitamin Angels. “They are making great strides toward improving the health of families in their community, and we are proud to be a part of their work!”

Vitamin Angels provides prenatal multivitamins to 12 partner organizations in Florida serving over 4,400 women, including an organization located just three miles from Daytona International Raceway. In 2014, a reported 14% of households (or 50 million Americans) were classified as food insecure. To help meet the nutritional needs of pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, Vitamin Angels collaborates with pregnancy health centers, general health clinics and food banks across the US to provide prenatal vitamins to underserved women free of cost.

Vitamin Angels aims to acquaint more race goers with the work that the organization is doing domestically and internationally and raise additional funds. As well, the organization hopes to highlight the opportunity for other nonprofits to receive vitamin grants. Individuals interested in making a donation can visit the charity’s website or simply text GIVE POWER to 52000 and follow the prompts to make a $10 contribution (all agreements apply).

In 2015, Vitamin Angels provided nutritional support to over 48 million children and moms, an all-time high for the organization.  More than 230 million doses of product including high dose vitamin A, prenatal and children’s multivitamins, and deworming tablets were distributed in 54 countries through a network of over 800 field partners.
