Lucy Kanya, PhD MPH

Lucy Kanya, PhD MPH is the Senior Regional Technical Director for Africa Programs and works closely with our teams in Africa, using an implementation science approach to inform the design and ongoing refinement of our programs in the region. Lucy has a health economics and policy background and over 15 years of experience in social science research in Africa and the United Kingdom. Her research interests include maternal and perinatal health, the economics and politics of healthcare financing in low- and middle-income countries, and private-sector engagement in health. Lucy is an Assistant Professorial Fellow based in the Department of Health Policy, London School of Economics and Political Science. While at LSE, she has worked as part of the LSE’s African Health Observatory–Platform on Health Systems and Policies (AHOP), which leverages existing national and regional collaborations to form a network of National Centres for health systems analysis and in-country knowledge brokering.
