Dr. Robert Black

Robert E. Black, M.D., M.P.H. is Professor and Director of the Institute for International Programs of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.  He is a medical epidemiologist who worked at the Centers for Disease Control and at institutions in Bangladesh and Peru. He was Chair of the Department of International Health at the Bloomberg School from 1985-2013. Dr. Black’s research includes studies of nutrition and health interventions. His other interests are related to the use of evidence to guide policy and programs including estimates of burden of disease, and the strengthening of public health training.
