PRESS RELEASE
Vitamin Angels and Walgreens Reach Half a Billion Women and Children Globally With Essential Vitamins and Minerals
Vitamin Angels and Walgreens are pleased to share a 12-year partnership milestone of reaching 500 million women, infants, and young children in underserved communities, both in the U.S. and in 65 countries worldwide, with life-changing vitamins and minerals. These essential nutrients lay the foundation for healthier, brighter futures.
“For the past 12 years, Vitamin Angels and Walgreens have helped improve the health of a child or mom every second of every day. This is incredible! This milestone underscores the extraordinary impact a long-standing, mission-aligned nonprofit-corporate partnership can achieve,” said Ana Céspedes, Vitamin Angels CEO. “Together, we are proving that meaningful, global change is not only possible – it’s happening.”
By addressing critical gaps in nutrition, Vitamin Angels and Walgreens are advancing global health equity. Improving access to essential nutrients not only supports healthier pregnancies, birth outcomes, and sets children on a path toward healthy growth and development, but also paves the way for long-term prosperity. It ensures that people have an equal chance to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.
Since 2013, Walgreens has donated 1% of participating vitamin and supplement products’ retail sales to Vitamin Angels. In 2024, this support helped enable Vitamin Angels’ U.S. program to reach 500,000 underserved pregnant women. That same year, Vitamin Angels and Walgreens also expanded their Prenatal Vitamin Program, which provides free prenatal multivitamins and nutrition education to pregnant women in underserved communities across all 50 states in over 2,300 Walgreens locations nationwide. The program also offers a direct-ship option in select markets, ensuring even greater access to essential nutrition for pregnant women in need.
